About This Site
online since December 22 2004 latest change July 29, 2010
This site is designed for screen resolution 1024 x 768 or higher. The maximum useful screen resolution is 1600 x 1200. The images scaled for this size have separate links just below their guide photos that show pixel dimensions and file size followed by a plus sign. The number of pictures included here continues to grow slowly thru time. Photo content is currently about 50% complete. Picture categories and organization will occasionally shift as the expansion settles in.
The graphic qualities that are possible to see here depend on monitor specifications, video card, and viewing conditions. A CRT in low ambient light fed by a graphics card with a minimum of 128 MB VRAM beats a laptop outside in daylight. For expanded consideration of resolution issues, go to the About Resolution page. The luminosity range of the monitor and the brightness and contrast settings are significant factors in deciding the density spectrum or range of possible light values that you see. Maximize browser window size to full screen size for best results. If you are inclined to tinker with monitor settings for optimum contrast and density, go to the Monitor Calibration page.
In order to get from a full photo page back to the prior page of small guide photos, hit the "back" button or use tabbed browsing. This is a feature made available in these W3C standards conforming browsers: Firefox 3.6.4, Opera 10, Chrome 5, and Safari 5. The tabs and browser window title show file names which in some cases provide photo information. For download file sizes exceeding 300 KB, size information is shown at guide photo.
