About Photos

Things that delay the imposition of one's value system and judgement are a disarming mental vacation. They allow a more complete sensory experience, unencumbered by real or imagined obligations. One of those "things" is abstraction.

In photography this occurs through a variety of means which all attempt to avoid the simple duplication of a natural scene. The use of black and white, unnatural subject, perspective, magnification, contrast, density, selective focus and composition provide a departure from everyday vision.

The result of abstraction can permit novel, original, simple, non-political, more direct perception and the momentary release that accompanies it. With this notion as a basic underlying current, these photographs were conceived, recorded, executed, and assembled here.
